Cable Cars Combat Encounter
Summary
This level is a guided escape scenario set in a remote mountain area during an outbreak. The player progresses from a dense forest into a cable car facility, using diegetic indicators, controlled sight lines, and environmental storytelling to navigate. The structure is built around clear goal hierarchy, gradual reveal of the play space, and escalating tension as the player activates power systems and fights their way toward the final escape via the cable cars. The design focuses on readable navigation, pacing variety, exploration loops, and a strong visual connection between key landmarks.

1.The player emerges from the forest and sees the power station in the distance their ultimate destination along with the cable station and the final goal.
2.The player explores the nearby parking lot to search for clues and equipment.
3.After some climbing and pushing/pulling objects, the character reaches the cable car area.The character walks to the control room to see if it is able to startup from there, they find a note. The power is off and needs to start the backup generator in the maintenance room in order to open the doors to the outside.
4.The player goes to the maintenance room and starts the backup generator to power the door that leads up toward the power station and the next station.
5.The player emerges into a forest path, navigating parkour sections and climbing through the woods.
6.The player climbs the final stretch leading up to the power station.
7.Inside the power station, the player must make their way through a maze of rooms to reach the roof where the main power button is located.
8.After activating the power, the player hears the terrifying sounds of zombies approaching and must run from the power station, sliding down the hill to escape.
9.Enemies have gathered at the bottom of the hill in the forest area. The player must fight through them to continue escaping
10.Finally, the player reaches the cable station, battles their way to the control room, and activates the cable car to make their escape.

Summary
Starting at the docks, you journey through a torch-lit cave and a patrol-filled jungle to reach a small village where locals point you toward an old adventurer. Your path then climbs into the mountains toward a massive fortress, only to lead you back down through an eerie, skeleton-filled forest and a damp swamp.
Deep within the swamp, you discover a villa and meet an explorer who provides the key to the fortress along with a secret shortcut. This hidden passage brings you back to the mountain's peak, where you finally unlock the gates and enter the fortress to complete your mission.

Why?
I put this together for a Blueprint scripting course where the core challenge was building functional level loaders under a strict technical bottleneck: only three sections of the map could be loaded at any given time.
This constraint meant that the project was as much about logistics and optimization as it was about design. I had to be really intentional with the layout and sightlines, planning the route so that old areas could be swapped out for new ones behind the player’s back without breaking the immersion.
By using winding paths through the jungle and a "shortcut" at the end, I was able to manage the memory usage effectively while still guiding the player through a seamless journey from the docks to the final fortress. It was a great exercise in balancing technical limitations with a smooth gameplay flow.
Walkthrough - Text
1] Docks -> Cave. You arrive by boat at the docks with your companion and press forward into the cave entrance to search for the lost fortress.
2] Cave -> Jungle Crawl. Through the dark cave, equip your torch, then emerge into the jungle where guard towers and roaming magic pigs patrol—keep moving.
3] Jungle -> Smaller Village. Push through the dense jungle to a small village. Speak with villagers for information about the fortress; they mention an old adventurer beyond the swamp.
4] Smaller Village -> Mountains. Leave the broken village and follow a hidden passage that climbs toward the mountains and the looming fortress.
5] Mountains -> Fortress Climb. Climb the stairs to a massive doorway where an NPC greets you and offers a tip on crossing the forest to reach the swamp.
6] Fortress -> Forest (Skeletons in Cages). Enter a foggy, spooky forest filled with skeletons in cages. It’s dark and eerie—proceed carefully; this path leads to the swamp.
[7] Forrest Area with skeletons in cages (Natives Village with traps) - > Swamp. After entering through the fog you will need to walk through the forest that is cold and damp. Continue following the trees as your only marker.
[8] Swamp -> Villa. After traversing through the swamp, you finally get to the mansion you meet the old explorer. You speak shortly before he gives you the key to the fortress. And tells you to take the shortcut behind you to get to the temple quicker.
[9] Villa- > Mountain climb area back to Old Fortress. Following the old adventurers secret passage it leads you back to the old fortress where the mission ends as the character will enter the fortress.
